What are the event must-dos
- [ ] Check-in guests: Use Luma to check attendees in.
Pro tip: have one person greet everyone at the entrance and manage check-ins. Ideally, use a system to track who’s checked in. Video tutorial on Luma Check-In process.
- [ ] Take a group photo: Capture a memorable group shot during the event.
- [ ] Provide a Kindred overview: Offer a quick introduction to Kindred and open the floor for any questions
- [ ] Share highlights and feedback: After the event, share key moments, insights, and any feedback with the Kindred team at [email protected]
- [ ] Reimbursement: Please confirm the event budget with Kindred in writing, then fill out this form to get your reimbursement started.

Hosting a gathering overview
During the event
- [ ] Contact Information: Kindred will share your phone number with all guests to ensure they can contact you for any issues or questions.
- Note #1: You will not be able to message members directly. If you need to share anything with attendees, the Kindred team is happy to help. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance.
- Note #2: Make sure you are added as a co-host on Luma so you can check guests in, and confirm that you are comfortable with the check-in process on Luma (which needs the Luma app downloaded).
- [ ] Finding each other: Finding each other at the start can feel a little chaotic. A simple marker helps, so everyone can spot you with ease.
- Additional Recommendation: If possible, display a clear “Kindred sign” so guests can easily find us. While we’ll be providing an official version for all hosts in the future, for now we recommend something simple and visible—like a “K” balloon, a laptop with the Kindred logo, or another distinct marker. If it needs to be secured, bring tape just in case.
- [ ] Guest Check-in
- Confirm the guest headcount and track attendees. You can check in attendees via Luma.

- [ ] Arrival and Seating
- Arrive 20-25 minutes early to secure the table (and make sure to make a reservation).
- [ ] Appetizers
- Budget: About $10 per person for appetizers.
- Order Strategy: Order appetizers in waves, depending on the number of guests. A good time to order is 20-25 minutes in. Around 30 minutes in, order food for the group.
- For larger groups, family-style or appetizer selections work best.
- Inform your server of your budget so they can notify you if you’re getting close.
- Don’t forget to take a photo of your receipt for reimbursement!
- [ ] Welcome and Introduction
- Allow 30–45 minutes for guests to arrive. Once most are present, introduce the hosts, give a brief overview of Kindred, and share your personal experience.
- Invite questions, and encourage any guests who’ve hosted or traveled with Kindred to share their stories.
- Keep this segment to around 20 minutes total.
